The current breakdown of our system of government is not a breakdown of government per se but a reflection of the consciousness or lack there of in our country today. When we as Americans realize the fundamental truth that our individual success is directly linked to our neighbors success and that our nature is giving and it is what makes us the most happy then, and only then will our government reflect that collective state of mind. So, one could say that by helping to ensure our neighbors success (or at least not hindering that success) and giving to others we have ensured our own success and happiness.
